Understanding safe charging habits is an easy way to protect your devices, your home, and your family.

Why Charger Safety Matters
Phone chargers are designed to convert household electricity into the lower voltage required by electronic devices. During this process, a small amount of heat is generated. Under normal conditions this is expected. However, if the charger is covered, damaged, or connected to faulty equipment, the temperature can rise beyond what is considered normal.

Most modern chargers include built-in safety features, but no charger is completely immune to misuse.

Avoid Covering Your Charger
One of the most common mistakes is placing a charger under pillows, blankets, mattresses, clothing, or cushions while it is plugged in.

Covering a charger prevents heat from escaping. As a result, the charger can become much hotter than intended. Manufacturers generally recommend keeping chargers in a well-ventilated area during use.

Keep Chargers Away from Water
Electricity and water are a dangerous combination. Never use or leave a charger where it may come into contact with water, including:

Near sinks
Bathrooms
Swimming pools
Wet countertops
Outdoors during rain
If a charger becomes wet, unplug it safely if possible and stop using it until it has been inspected or replaced.
